SPECIES: Grevillea burrowa — Burrowa Grevillea
CLASSIFICATION: Critically endangered
The Burrowa Grevillea is an uncommon and critically endangered species of Grevillea endemic to the Burrowa Plateau in north-eastern Victoria. Found in dry woodland and rocky outcrop habitats, the species is known from only three subpopulations. Outer flowers are reddy-pink and grow in groups, up to 30 flowers in a cluster. It is reliant on birds, insects and even occasionally possums for pollination and ants assist with seed dispersal. Under threat from habitat loss from land clearing and fire, introduced species (deer, rabbits), weed invasion and the restricted range of the species itself.
