SPECIES: Eucalyptus dalveenica — Dalveen Blue Box
CLASSIFICATION: Critically endangered
In the Granite area in southern Queensland there grows a collection of unique eucalyptus trees. So unique, in 2019 it was formally described as a new species. The Dalveen Blue Box can grow to 15m tall, and has rough bark and broad leaves. When crushed, the leaves emit a sweet, fruity smell. Surveys to date have identitied around 340 trees. Land clearing is the largest threat to there being a future for the Dalveen Blue Box.
