SPECIES: Phyllurus caudiannulatus — Ringed Thin-tail Gecko
CLASSIFICATION: Endangered
The Ringed Thin-tail Gecko is found in south eastern Queensland in subtropical vine forest, finding shelter in the cavitites of trees, under bark or rock piles. They are an arboreal (tree dwelling) species, nocturnal (active at night) and mostly feed on beetles. Their 'original' tail has 5-6 pale rings. Remarkably, these rings do not appear on regenerated tails. Habitat clearing and predation by feral cats and foxes are the major threats to this little gecko.
